How to get your first 1000 Subscribers on YouTube
5 TIPS for you… In this video, we are going to give 5 Tips that we have learned for the past 9 months to help you get your first 1000 subscribers on YouTube.
Hi guys, Fizah & I started our YouTube channel in August 2020, we made a lot of videos about our travel journey, in Thailand, In the Perhentian Island, In Penang, in the Cameron highland, and also did food reviews in different restaurants around Kuala-Lumpur, Hostels and even started to unbox products from high-quality backpacks in Sweden.
All in 9 months!
I come from a backpacking and cycling touring background and I honestly wished that I had started my YouTube channel 10 years ago.
I went backpacking for the first time when YouTube did not even exist yet and when we used the lonely planet to book our hotel instead of using our smartphone.
But keep in my mind that it is never too late to get started and today we are going to help you to get your first 1000 subscribers so if you want to support us and grow your youtube channel with us, click on the like button, subscribe and ask us anything on the comment below.
Tip #1 Post a lot of videos
That is no secret that if you want people to know who you are, you are going to have to start creating and posting videos out there.
And, do not start saying that you do have a quality camera or skills to take videos because the only thing you need to do is GETTING STARTED !
One of the first vlogs was while going to the chilling waterfall in Malaysia. I used my old Gopro hero 1 and this Nikon pointer shoot. The quality of the video and transitions was not great but I tried as much as I could to make it about the viewer and create good content to help people that wanted to visit this place.
Do not be afraid of the quality of your video just yet because that is not what you are looking for at the moment. People need to start knowing who you are, and the only way to do that is to start posting videos online.
Mistake #1: Judging your mistake too early
While you start making videos, you are going to want to judge yourself and there’s nothing wrong with that but you should not do it too quickly and also compare yourself with other Youtubers that have been there for years.
Keep in mind that if you do not fail, you are not even trying! Let me repeat that for you: If you do not fail, you are not even trying!
Failure is inevitable and if you want to succeed, you’re gonna have to fail!
But the good thing is that you are going to learn from your mistake and the more you learn the closer you will be to succeed.
As an inventor, Edison made 1,000 unsuccessful attempts at inventing the light bulb. … Edison replied, “I didn’t fail 1,000 times. The light bulb was an invention with 1,000 steps.” “Great success is built on failure, frustration, even catastrophe.”
Tip #2 Who & What Question
Answering the who & what question is next.
Who do you serve and what problem do you solve for them?
In fact, let me know in the comment below:
– Who do you serve
– What problems do you solve
Most creators do not answer that question & that maybe the reason why you are not getting 1000 subscribers.
Answer that: Why someone should Subscribe to your channel?
Lets take for example “Chris Heria”
The guys has over 3 million subscribers and he is making weekly video to teach people how to get fit
So who is he serving?
Obviously not gonna be Gamers, makeup artists or travel vloggers like us.
His specific target is gonna be people (man or woman) who want to get fit.
And what problem does it sloves?
- How to get a bigger chest
- How to get 6 packs
- Bigger triceps with bodyweight only
You need to define who is your target and how you can help solving their problem
Mistake #2: Selfish Content vs service content
Tell me why do you want 1000 subscribers?
Most creators want to get to 1000 subscribers but do not think about their audience. You want to get 1000 subscribers but what are you going to do for them, what are you offering them in exchange.
Again! Are you helping them solving their problem or helping them in any way? In our previous “YouTube tutorial video” we post a video about gary vee, listen
Do you think about the audience first or don’t you?
And the reason why many people do not get their first 1000 subscribers is because they do not think about what their audience wants to see.
Tip #3 Skill up & Study successful channels
Do not try to get perfect first, because likely, the first video you’re going to make is going to be messy.
And when I am saying to start creating and posting videos, I mean today! Why shall you be waiting for tomorrow, next week, next month or even next year to start? POST IT NOW!
And you start posting a few videos, now it is time for you to “skill up” and think about what you need to improve & learn (it could be, how to use your camera setting, being more confident in front of the camera, the editing process…)
But the most important question is: Have you studied other successful channels in your niche?
If you have done it yet, identify 5 to 10 Youtube creators that are doing the same or similar things that you are doing.
Take a piece of paper or a book and start taking notes that will help you improve or avoid the mistake that you are making.
Do not think that – too many people are posting about this or about that and that you do not have a chance to stand up.
If People are talking about it, it means that people are interested in it, you must find a way to get a different approach and eventually you will get there.
Mistake #3: Not Shortening your learning curve
Learn from your mistake! If you have spent 1 or 2 years trying to get 1000 subscribers and you still did not reach your target, think about what you may have done wrong, and fix the problem!
Always remember that failure is not the opposite of success, it is part of it. (Albert Einstein)
Tip #4 Focus on search based content & Answer specifics questions
Did you know that 65% of people are using YouTube to help them fix their problem?
If you are asking me, hey Roman, how do I get discover nobody knows me yet? How do I get subscribers…
Start solving problems! And answer a specific question!
We are also working hard on it! We have been on youtube only for 9 months and our primary goal is to get to know the people that are subscribing to our channel & to do that you are going to get in touch with your subscribers and one easy way to do it is to start replying to each and every comment that you receive on your videos.
Help people solve their problems and care about your audience!
Mistake #4: Making content that nobody wants to watch and that nobody is looking for
Have you made some research before deciding to shoot your video? Do people are actually interested in this content?
If you can not tell people why they should subscribe to your YouTube channel and how it is going to be beneficial for them then you may not get 1000 subscribers.
Make content that people want to watch and content that people are looking for.
Tip #5 Commit
COMMIT COMMIT COMMIT!
And the main reason why people are not getting 1000 subscribers is that they are not ready to commit.
If you like making videos but decide to post 1 video every 2 months and wondering why you are not getting 1000 subscribers then maybe Youtube is not made for you.
Let me give you an example to clarify my statement.
Let’s say you want to start to lose weight, eat healthy and go to the gym.
That is great right!
And the first 2 weeks, you quit junk food, you are going 4 times per week to the gym and started cycling and walking during the week-end to lose weight.
But after 2 weeks, you restart eating junk food and go to the gym once every 2 weeks and now you are wondering why you do not get any results.
You get me?
Being on YouTube is a commitment and if you want to be successful you are going to take it seriously and commit to it 100% and if you are ready to do so then you will get your 1000 subscribers in no time!
Mistake #5: Giving up
Yes, being on YouTube is hard! And giving up is easy but is not the solution.
If you do not fail, you are not even trying!
Most people overestimate what they can do in one year but underestimate what they can achieve in 5 to 10.
You are gonna have to commit and not give up! Please don’t give up!
I hope that this video will help you to get your first 1000 subscribers and that you are going to follow these tips step by step to help you succeed in your journey.
